Fee Schedule for Citizenship and Immigration Services

CIC charges fees for various application types. These are processing fee for a number of cost recovery and administrative costs and for certain citizenship and immigration procedures. All fees are subject to change without notice. In general, fees are payable at the time of application. All Fees are in Canadian currency.

**Note: On May 2, 2006, the Government of Canada announced a reduction of 50 percent in the $975 Right of Permanent Residence Fee. You may be eligible for a refund. Please check with your local CIC office or call us.

4. RIGHT OF PERMANENT RESIDENCE FEE (RPRF)

This fee is payable by principal applicants (with some exceptions) and accompanying spouses and common-law partners. It must be paid before the immigrant visa is issued overseas or before the applicant becomes a permanent resident in Canada.

The following applicants are not required to pay this fee:

  • dependent children of a principal applicant or sponsor, a child to be adopted, or an orphaned brother, sister, niece, nephew or grandchild; and
  • protected persons, including Convention refugees.
