Employers looking for Live-in Caregivers

Who can hire

You are eligible to hire a foreign nanny if you can satisfy the following requirements:

  1. You require care for your children under 14 years of age or you are an elderly person requiring care
  2. You have demonstrated that you made reasonable efforts to recruit a Canadian or a foreign nanny already in Canada but between jobs.
  3. You have a signed contract with your prospective live-in caregiver
  4. You meet financial requirements as defined by the current laws. 

Your responsibilities as an employer:

  1. Reasonable duties as defined by CIC, acceptable working conditions and wages as per Canadian standards
  2. Private accommodation with freedom of access to the home
  3. Medical coverage. It is the responsibility of the employer to cover the private medical of the foreign worker for the first three months till the MSP application is not processed.
